What is Radial Fatigue Testing for Aluminum and Steel Wheels

Radial Fatigue testing for Aluminum wheels and Steel wheels is designed to accurately test wheels from 12" to 36" in diameter to established SAE standards for passenger cars, light trucks, recreational and utility trailers. Radial Fatigue testing simulates a vehicle driving straight down a road for an extended period of time under heavy load.

Wheel Radial Fatigue Testing Process

Radial fatigue testing for aluminum wheels and steel wheels are very similar. Upon mounting a designated tire on the test wheel, higher than normal air pressure and weight loads are calculated and applied to the wheel assembly and machine controls. The wheel and tire assembly is then mounted to the machine and put in a simulated run down the road for specific cycles determined by the applicable SAE standard. AQTS uses stringent SAE standards to ensure accurate quality results. When the testing cycle is complete, the wheel undergoes a Liquid Penetrant Test (LPT) to detect possible failures.
